I recently paid a b2b over a hundred thousand dollars for a job in web development that was paid on an hourly arrangement (lasted for 7 months), and ran out of money to pay them further.  I was forced to sign an agreement so that I would not sue them or complain about them, and they said they would take off the last invoice.  Now, I'm trying to get the project up and running again as I have a little more money to spend.  I'm told by the new b2b contractors that the old work is not useable and they need to start over from scratch and the work they provided was very little.  Since I'm not a technical person, I feel as though I was treated unfairly, and was wondering if there is a way to get some money back from the old b2b contractor.  I'm contemplating going to the Better Business Bureau, but I do not know if this is something I can do.

Without knowing the terms of the agreement that you signed, I cannot evaluate whether you have a case or not. Many consumer protection laws that void coercive agreements do not apply in the business-to-business community. So it may be that the agreement you signed does in fact  bar a lawsuit by you. You should consult with an attorney to assess your rights. You may also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Good luck to you,

John Rand
