Hello,

Your situation is not uncommon.  Many individuals have have back surgery that disables then and seemingly prohibits exercise.  As long as you pysician has cleared you for exercise and reviewed with you your limitations, it is possible to find and exercise regime that works for you.

Many of my clients have experienced surgeries or chronic back problems, so I would love to discuss your return to exercise.

The best place to start is with getting professional assistance.  With your surgery and inactivity, it is imperative that you have a professional help to start safely and slowly.  There are 2 proffessionals that I recomend you look into. 1.) A Certified Personal Trainer-make sure that this person is certified and had a backround in physical therapy or dealing with medical issues.  Not all trainers are qualified to help you with your situation.  2.) A Nutritionist or Registered Dietitian is important.  They can help create a meal plan for you to help assist you in your new goals.  Exercising is only half of the equation to getting you to your desitred weight.  3.) A support system is vital.  It is an emotional and physical challange to loose weight and get back into shape.  It is important that you have people supporting you in your quest.  The Personal Trainer and/or the Nutritionist are great places to start.

Bravo to you for taking the first step with your inquiry.  If you are interested, I would be more than happy to set up a complimentary session with one of our Certified Personal Trainers and a complimentery session with our Weight Management Specialists at your convenience.  Please contact me @ THE GYM in Armonk if you are interested in getting started. 914.219.1601
