Speaking strictly from personal experience, I will say that ridding my daughter of head lice was one of the most challenging as a parent.  I know the feeling of exasperation, but I will tell you that you will get a handle on the situation and overcome it.

We first tried the over-the-counter products (RID and others).  We tried using a fine metal comb to remove the eggs and bugs.  We were even on the verge of cutting off all of her hair!  We were at our wits end by this point!  We then took her to our pediatrician who prescribed a product to kill head lice.

Once we brought the product home and we read the “warnings” we were horrified to read that the product ‘may cause sterility.’  Not only that all the ingredients were known carcinogens.  Needless to say, we disposed of the $60 head lice elimination product.

What worked was a natural, organic, vanilla-scented shampoo which we purchased from our local health-food store (Manna Foods on Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains.)

It worked with just one shampooing!  The best part: it was gentle, smelled good, and had no harmful ingredients.  I do not remember the name of the product; however go to Manna Foods, I’m sure they can help you locate it.

Let me know if you have difficulty finding it and I will get it for you.

Sincerely,

Dr. Charles Coppola
