I am a male at age 42 and have had severe pain around my shoulder blade for the past three years.  Sometimes it flairs around my shoulder into my neck and causes numbness in my hand and arm.  My physician wasn’t helpful other than saying to continue with massages.  Do you have any suggestions on what type of doctor or specialist I should see to review the problem in greater detail?  Thanks.

Dear Neck Pain Sufferer:

Hello, my name is Dr. Charles Coppola.  I am a Holistic Chiropractor in Elmsford, and as such I know how to find the root cause of just about any problem.  I use advanced techniques such as Body Restoration Technique, Brimhall's Six Steps to Wellness, Koren Specific Technique, as well as, Cranio Sacral Technique, and Myofascial Release Technique.

All techniques are non-force, and very gentle.  These techniques are so powerful I know I could reduce your pain by at least 30 % (and usually a lot more) on any given visit.

Neck pain can be caused by a multitude of problems, such as, Cranial Faults, TMJ, Cervical Disc injuries, Sacral problems, scar tissue (anywhere in the body), and fascial restrictions.

If you came in, I would be able to find out  exactly what is causing your chronic pain, and as I previously stated, I feel confident I could reduce your pain by 30% if not more.

If you want more information on my techniques, you could go to my website at www.drcoppolaforhealth.com.

I would love the opportunity to help you.  If you have any questions or would like to make an appointment, I could be reached at (914)592-1733.  You could also e-mail me at painreliefcare@aol.com.

Sincerely,

Dr. Coppola

It is common to have shoulder and neck pain intertwined with one another.  Numbness and radiating pain or ach is common with your type of injury.

I am an athletic trainer and deal with this type of injury all the time.  Through soft tissue activation, joint mobilization, and range of motion exercises I am confident we can resolve your issue.

Hello,

First we would have to ascertain what the actual problem is.  It may involve the rotator cuff on that side, a problem in the neck such as a cervical disc creating nerve impingement or a musculoskeletal problem involving the scapula region musculature. I would initially order an MRI scan to locate the area of the problem and its nature.  Depending on the problem it may require surgery, specific physical therapy, medication or corrective strength training.

I would be happy to assist you in this matter, thank you.
