I am looking for someone who can train me to combine cardio activity but also focus on weight loss as well.  I am thinking about training to run a half marathon so I need some guidance with that as well.  The trainer can either be working at  a location where I would go there or someone who would come to the house.  Please provide rates as well.

A worthy goal, and one we can help you with.  Increasing your cardio activities in conjunction with a well constructed and sequenced strength training program will naturally increase your BMR or basal metabolic rate, thus burinng more calories and creating weight loss.

Without knowing your specifics such as age, weight and degree of present conditioning, I can only provide general guidelines, but these will serve to give some idea of the road ahead.  Interval training, a method of exercising that involves multiple periods of speeding up and then slower rest periods has been shown to create the optimal calorie burn.  Combining these with strength training periods done first ,will give you the optimal blood levels of cortisol, growth hormone, glucose and insulin.  These metabolic changes coupled with proper nurtition and exercise will make you marathon ready!

I'm glad you asked about training. How fortunate we are that we have opened Sacred Shakti Yoga right here in Ossining. I have worked with several people who have enjoyed Yoga classes because we build up the cardio and go the distance with focus. Many Yoga students are surprised to find the same "runner's high" from doing a Kundalini Yoga set. As a teacher, I am very familiar with the sensation of finding that zone and going the distance. One of our mantras is"Keep Up and you wil be kept up." It is a comfortable place for me in my practice to reach.
