Phobias

The answer to your question is yes. There is a lot that can be done holistically to eliminate phobias.

The examples you presented on your email indicate that you have a number of different phobias. When treating phobias I want to try and find out what is behind the phobia. The more exact you are, the greater the result. For example, one may say that they are afraid of heights when, in actuality, the real fear may be that of falling.

I treat phobias in a number of different ways. I first want to see if the Adrenal Glands are weak (I haven’t seen one case where they were not). The Adrenal Glands are your stress glands. If they are weak, any and all types of stress will have a greater impact on you. I use a couple of really powerful, natural approaches to strengthen the Adrenal Glands.

I also want to see if anything else is going on which could be making you anxious such as cranial faults. To find out more about cranial faults, go to my website: www.drcoppolaforhealth.com, click on ‘Newsletters’ and then on Failing Memory.

Finally, I want to find out more about the phobia, or phobias. Is it one phobia coming out as different phobias? For instance, is it a lack of confidence that makes you fearful of driving on the N.J. Turnpike, driving over bridges, and sitting in a crowded room? Or is it a combination of different specific phobias which need to be worked on.

I then use specialized interactive techniques to eliminate the phobia. There is even a technique that I can teach you to do at home that will help enhance your results.

Dear Writer – It can be very uncomfortable and upsetting to experience the type of fears you have described.  It is great that you are seeking ways to help yourself.  If you are asking about past-life regression therapy, I would caution you to be careful working with this tool, as it can be very powerful, and should only be used in working with someone who is well trained and has lots of experience in helping others.  Past-life regression should really be used as part of a healing process which has developed over enough time that both the person being regressed and the person doing the regression work can feel safe and comfortable in terms of being able to deal with whatever information and thought and feeling responses emerge.

While your fears may be related to past life issues, there may also be circumstances in the present life which contribute to them.  As a licensed master of social work psychotherapist, I use both verbal and non-verbal therapy to help people get in touch with their inner wisdom, strengths, and healing energies in order to help them make the changes they want in their lives.  When working with someone, we learn what tools work best to help them resolve issues that keep them stuck, and how to draw upon them in the future.  I work hard to help people make a stronger connection with their inner wisdom, so that it can help guide them.  Some of the tools I use are sandplay therapy, expressive arts, mandala work, and Reiki.  These can all help a person feel centered, safe, and strong, which could be of help in your situation, so that you would know you carry your safety with you and can always take care of yourself, no matter what your circumstances.  I believe in helping people find both spiritual and practical skills to help them negotiate life.

Good luck as you make your way along your healing path.

I have had some success in treating agoraphobia, with and without panic disorder. Key elements to this work, in addition to establishing a trusting relationship with me should you choose to begin some work on this issue, are the use of cognitive psychotherapy, guided imagery, and hypnotherapy. I have been in practice for more than 30 years, and  would be glad to discuss this with you. Please feel free to call me at either 212 581 5633, or 914 232 4702.
